The superpower of humans is doing things that don't scale. The superpower of technology is doing things that scale. What kind of dynamics does it create when the two meet, driven by societal and economic forces, under the constraints of laws of physics and mathematics?
We live in a complex modern world. Our life depends on an ever-growing number of man-made systems, of which design, engineering and ecosystem complexity is way beyond an individual’s knowledge. Technology has brought about human connections and interactions on an unprecedented scale, and yet, our loneliness, our lack of deep relationship has never been more prevalent. How can we the unscalable individuals navigate and thrive in the complex, constantly changing modern life?
I don’t know the answer, but I know that I will be always curious, and I will always be optimistic. Complexity and changes are natural part of life for us to explore, to take challenge and to hack around. As long as we keep ourselves informed and educated, we can make decisions that align with our goals and values, and we will have the agency over what is ahead of us.
